There are lots to choose from this month but if I have to pick the best, well you can’t go too far past the artists below. With a few very solid EP and album launches, a nod to legends, and a farewell Perth’s music scene is alive and kicking.
Ohm Rune - Gargantuan Launch
Badlands Bar | Friday, 2 October | Website
Come down the East end of Aberdeen Street and hang out under the stalactites of Badlands main room as you get a heavy dose of stoner metal. Ohm Rune are ready to unleash their debut album Gargantuan to the world in a gig that will go off like a cracker. Melodic and methodical, the duo create songs that will appeal to anyone who loves listening to solid music. They already have a following, having already sold out their first pre-sale tickets, so my suggestion is you’d better get your crew and tickets quick.
Almond Soy - Eastbourne Cassette Launch / Farewell Show
Badlands Bar | Saturday, 10 October | Website
If this year wasn’t tumultuous enough, Almond Soy has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus which is such a huge shame. Their 2018 breakthrough hit “I Could Be The One” features heavily in my On Repeat Spotify playlist and the only way I can describe it is, ‘it’s sunlight in a jar’. Earlier this year they released their EP “Under The Wait” which showed a lot of growth and at Badlands they’ll be throwing a huge party to celebrate their final offering Eastbourne Cassette and to say ‘farewell’. So come down and give these guys a warm send-off whilst celebrating their journey.
