Monument to Migrants

Monument to Migrants

A small girl and her parents look out across the bows at the life they are leaving behind in Italy and forward to the one they will create in a brand-new country…

Every monument and statue in the City of Perth tells a story, this one gives a small insight into the way migrants felt when they first set eyes on WA.

The monument commemorates the early and ongoing contribution of migrant communities to the development of Western Australia whose hardship and perseverance have contributed to its growth and development.

Organised and built by the Abruzzese Emigrant Association of Australia in unveiled in January 2008; the stone for each of the columns came from the Majella Range in the Abruzzo region of Italy and from Donnybrook in WA.
