Northbridge

The creative and social engine

Rooftop movies

Lively, expressive and diverse, Northbridge / Yandilup is the undisputed cultural and social hub of Perth / Boorloo that feeds the mind, belly and soul from sun-up to the wee small hours in one easily walkable neighbourhood. Connected to the CBD via Yagan Square, this is where the city meets to feast on food, drink, art and culture, letting its inner child out to play after dark and welcoming everyone in.

The very heart of art and culture

Find deep connection to place and lose yourself in the stories and artefacts, art and culture of Australia’s largest state and the world’s oldest surviving culture without venturing much further than a block or two away. Everything’s within stepping distance and striking architecture in Perth’s cultural centre, including WA Museum Boola Bardip, State Library, State Theatre, AGWA, PICA, The Blue Room Theatre and a calendar full of pop-up exhibitions and craft markets.

Every flavour, day and night

Northbridge is known for nailing everything authentically Asian, from low-key street food, bánh mì lunch bites and comforting bowls to bubble teas and mochi. But its melting pot has got the lot. Multicultural culinary talent creates a choose-your-own-adventure of world flavours here. Artisan bakers stack toasties, bagels and pastries high with everything delicious. Experimental baristas bring fine craft to your favourite brews. And social settings to match your mood, from fast-and-furious canteens to hidden fairy-lit terraces and hip industrial-chic warehouses.

An expertly mixed bar scene

There’s every way to quench a thirst on a lunch break, long afternoon or an all-nighter in Northbridge. Sinking craft brews on garden terraces and people-watching from a grand wrap-around heritage balcony. Sitting with a spritz on sun-drenched rooftops or leafy viewing decks. Tasting sophistication without the stuffiness in New York and Parisian-style wine bars. Raising the tempo in high-energy music dens or finding quiet corners for conversation in its more intimate laneway bars and speakeasies.

Live music and lively late nights

Every night from Thursday to Saturday, the city gravitates to Northbridge’s neon lights to get the weekend started with live beats and DJ sets. Amongst the mega, multi-stage, multi-level clubs sit iconic LGBTQ+  institutions and an eclectic playlist of more intimate spaces. Drop in to relaxed house parties with indie music from underground acts at The Bird. Catch local and touring rock bands and high-energy electronic dance sessions at The Rechabite. Or line up for rowdy boot-stomping sing-alongs at Yee-Haw Bar, and retro dance-floor-filling pop, blues and roots at Mustang Bar.

A precinct always at play

Northbridge is the host that’s always finding an excuse to celebrate and entertain. It’s the hub of Perth International Arts Festival and Fringe World Festival. The proud home of the Pride Parade since 1990. A go-to base for arcade, VR and team gaming spaces, from Timezone to Holey Moley mini golf and Escape This. It’s also where the community comes together in Northbridge Piazza for free morning fitness classes, Sunday afternoon live music sessions, school holiday fun and outdoor movies and sports showing 24/7 on the LED Superscreen.
